Our Routing

Our comfortable Airbus A330-200 will depart Dusseldorf for our 12 hour flight. Passing Hamburg and the German North Sea coast we head directly towards Norway. Just west of the alpine Norwegian coast with bizarre rock formations and fiords we reach TromsØ, one of the most northerly cities in Norway. From there, we will fly across the Barents Sea directly towards Spitsbergen. This archipelago, about the size of Ireland, is almost entirely covered by mighty glaciers and surrounded by icebergs.

Here, we will leave our cruising altitude to have a closer look at the polar environment of Spitsbergen. Let your gaze wander over calving glaciers, characteristical mountain formations and majestic fiords. We will also fly over Spitsbergen´s only settlement, Longyearbyen, and, weather permitting, perform a lowpass at the world´s most northerly civil airport, Svalbard Lufthavn Longyear.

When flying past particularly beautiful passages, we will fly some circle patterns in order to give you the most perfect views. From Spitsbergen, our flight will head further north. Directly ahead of us lies now the endless polar sea. Fields of pack ice, cracks and miles of enormous ice floes offer stunning views. It is only a short while now until we reach the very North Pole. Shortly before crossing it, we will count down the kilometers with you. Directly after overflying the pole, heading towards Alaska now, you will be part of another superlative: we will round up the earth within minutes, flying across all 360 degrees of longitude within just minutes.

At the present location, we will be just as close to Alaska as to the North Cape in Norway. The distance to Northern Canada is only 750 kilometers from here, we are much closer to the American continent now than to Europe.

Flying across spectacular spectacular landscapes of floating ice, we will pass just west of Spitsbergen, again offering beautiful views of the archipelago´s west coast, heading back towards Norway. On a clear day, you can also see the northeastern parts of Greenland.

All in all, we will spend about five hours in the polar region, offering you the most spectacular and unforgettable views.

The described routing is subject to wind and weather conditions - Anyway, our pilot has several planned routings to choose from to grant best viewing opportunities.
